Mark Brearley is an architect-urbanist with special expertise in urban industry and it’s future. He is Professor of Urbanism at London Metropolitan University and co-authored the book Made in London (2022, Merrell). He has worked as an advisor to the governments of Brussels and Flanders on development that welcomes diverse enterprise, was Ateliermeester for the long-term programme Atelier Brussels, The Productive Metropolis, and was 2019 BSI-Citydev Inter-university Chair (Brussels).
Until 2013 he worked for the Mayor of London as Head of Design for London at the Greater London Authority, leading a 20 person policy and project engagement team. Brearley is also proprietor of long established London tray and trolley manufacturer Kaymet, and advocates for industrial businesses in his part of London.
